So Excellence is Boring?

The New England Patriots are currently the best football team in the history of the game. But now Michael Ventre at MSNBC has written a piece complaining that your humble blogger's team is boring because it always wins. What? Oh, they're supposed to win, but they need to sloppy about it.

He moans that the Super Bowl will be like "watching a drive way being paved." Does he not appreciate seeing sheer excellence in operation, watching the best quarterback in the history of the game throw with flawless precision into the perfect hands of receivers like Moss snatching the ball through a maze of triple coverage?

This is BORING? Is perfection during a gymnastics performance boring? Is the form of a runner setting a world record boring? Is the perfect quadruple flip twisty backward inverted pscyho 50 foot dive boring?

The New England Patriots are anything but boring.

You want boring? Watch a parade or the ice capades.
You want painful? Watch Pat Robertson or Nancy Grace.
You want nauseating? Watch Fox Noise or Cage Fighting.

You to go beyond the beyond and discover an agony beyond language? Take econometrics.

Forget water-boarding. Put these terrorists in an econometrics class, and they'll be singing whatever we want in less than a month.

Sometimes it is boring. I would say since nobody really comes close it will be. The best games are between evenly matched teams. I can see fans being hyped about it, especially long term fans who were there for the long period of patriots crapulence.

If the Patriots really _were_ the best football team in the history of the game then things might be boring. But they aren't, so they aren't. :P

Your best team in football history mr. x4mr damn near lost its ass this evening to the Baltimore Ravens, and you think they can kick the butt of the top of the line Steeler machines or Dallas champions of years past?

Hah! You have the blind faith of a true believer. Nothing wrong with that.

The Pats remain undefeated, but this makes two rather close games in a row.

And someone thought tonight's game would be boring?

In the NFL anything can happen.

You nearly jinxed it for them last night.
Teams have figured them out (hit Brady-hard) & if they don't get a loss in the regular season, they'll get smacked in the playoffs.

I agree with TR. The Patriots showed last night that they are an old team. They were lucky the last 2 weeks to bearly beat under .500, horrible teams. The playbook to beat them is now there: Blitz Tom Brady, smack the receivers at the line of scrimmage. Last night the Pats only won because of pure luck. The NFL has to chacnge the rule on 4th downs. After the timeout fiasco, the Pats were called for illegal procedure. To benefit from their own penalty is crap. Can you say San Diego Chargers from 2006?

Yes, the last two games have been disappointing, especially last night. They need to figure something out or they will get smacked in the playoffs.

I think they will find what they need.

I freaking love Moss. He grew up about 10 miles from me in Rand, WV. To say that African-Americans have it hard in Rand, WV is an understatement. He grew up hard. Too our state by surprise, and put up both high school football and basketball numbers that few had seen. He got a bad rap from the commmentators like Boomer "ASS...iason". The guy was a kid when he hit the big time...he has matured and may be one of the greatest receivers to play the game.

dude, moss is an ass. I would think differently if he always tried his hardest. He doesn't. You can't just punk out because you don't like where you are. OK, granted it was oakland, but still.

I don't know Moss, but one more remark is that everyone is gunning for the Pats and puts on their best game in an effort to be the team that beats them.

Baltimore played very well Monday.
